In my inbox this morning…
Obama super-delegate and supporter, Phil Bredesen, welcomed in Winchester as he campaigns for fellow Democrats and Obama supporters Fraley and Stewart
Winchester, TN- In a county where the presidential race has been largely one sided, the Franklin County Republican Party welcomes Barack Obama super-delegate and supporter Phil Bredesen to the area. Bredesen’s visit to Franklin County and support for local candidates is part of the Obama campaign’s “Fifty State Strategy” to send Obama to the White House and bring the liberal Obama agenda to all fifty statehouses including Nashville, where Obama’s party already controls the state House and is aiming to take control of the state Senate.
“We welcome the Obama campaign to Franklin County as we support a healthy dialogue in this presidential race,” said Franklin County Republican Women’s Chair Jan Doran. She added that while support in the area for the Republican ticket of Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin has been very strong, “It’s nice to see that local Democrats are lining up behind their presidential candidate”.
Obama, a lifelong Democrat like Fraley and Stewart, has campaigned in France and Germany more recently than in Tennessee however Mr. Bredesen has kept the Obama campaign going here in Tennessee and now in Franklin County with appearances in support of the first-term junior senator from Chicago.

Thanks for your patience.

I don’t think we’re going to get out of this thing. I’m going to have to go out on faith.
On September 11, 2001 my wife, my 3 year old daugher and I were home enjoying the arrival of our new adopted son who was three weeks old at the time. Only a week before my wife had made the return flight home from Florida and my daughter and I had flown home the previous week. Our biggest concern had been the normal summer turbulence over the deep south.

Todd Beamer had a wife and children and a baby on the way. Thankfully, they were not with him on Flight 93 when it was hijacked by Muslim extremists. And thanks to the actions of Todd Beamer and others with him, there were a few less widows and orphans on that terrible day. Beamer and his associates discovered that day what all of us should understand. That at any moment, we may be called upon to stand up and face down evil.
Thanks to Todd Beamer for answering the call. And may America always have such fine men and women to stand up for the innocent.

Just wow.
Last night Gov. Sarah Palin delivered an amazing acceptance speech at the RNC. Amazing because she was just thrust into the limelight a few days ago, has been beat up in the press, and has never given a speech in a crowded convention hall with the entire country watching. Within a few minutes, she hit her stride, got the feel of the crowd and just nailed the entire speech. She made it look easy.
Palin introduced her family and her story. The plot line was simple. We are typical small-town Americans and we understand you.
The suprising part of the speech was the effectiveness with which she skewered Barack Obama. Palin killed him with humorous mockery as did Giuliani earlier. It will be interesting to see if the Obama campaign responds to the provocation. I think that may be exactly what McCain wants. Will Barack Obama feel forced to explain just what a “community organizer” actually does?
One thing is for sure. The party base is now united and excited. This morning, no one is talking about Barack Obama. It’s all Sarah, all the time.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the many people who helped me out during my state senate campaign. This was a great experience that allowed me to meet many new friends and visit exiting new places (Luminary, TN: google it.)
First I want to thank my family, especially my wife, and my employer for putting up with all of this for the last 6 months. It’s been great to travel with my children all over the district.
I also want to thank all of those who made phone calls, put up signs, stuffed envelopes and did all those tasks required for a seven county campaign.
A special thanks to all those who donated the money which made it possible to run.
Thanks to those organizations who sponsored candidate forums which included: Franklin County GOP, Warren County GOP, Coffee County GOP, Franklin County COC, Manchester COC, & WMSR radio.
Thanks also to the other 5 candidates who ran. I have an even greater respect now for all candidates.
Congratulations to Mike Niederhauser (R) and Eric Stewart (D), the winners of their parties nominations.
I look forward to supporting our good Republican candidates in the November elections.
Thanks & good luck to all…
P.S. Alas, the peril of being specific. I left out the TV forum sponsored by the Grundy County Republican Party. One of the best events we had. Thanks to Michelle who points it out in the comments.
